Our Values & Aims

We are a values school and work hard with all pupils and families to instil in them the values for which we stand. Each month of the year we focus on a particular value. It is a theme in our daily assembly or collective worship as well as a class display. At the end of the month one pupil in each class is given a citizenship award recognising that particular child’s achievement in living out the value.

We think that respect and responsibility are key to a person’s development and so each school year begins in September and October with these two values. We focus on peace for November and love in December, thinking about the carol “Love came down at Christmas.”

For the remainder of the year we focus on care, trust, cooperation, faith, hope, honesty and humility.

September - Respect; October - Responsibility; November - Peace; December - Love; January - Cooperation; February - Honesty; March - Faith; April - Humility; May - Hope; June - Trust; July - Care

British Values

At The Minster Junior School we are fully committed to promoting British values in line with recent Department for Education (DfE) recommendations and the requirements of the Equalities Act 2010, to keep children safe and prepare them for life in modern Britain.

We aim to integrate these lessons within our topic- based teaching and encourage our children to live out these values as part of our school’s ethos.
