Welcome from the Headteacher

IMG_1951Wendy Jacobs has been at The Minster Junior School since September 2014 and has instigated major changes to meet the demands of the Ofsted inspection that took place in June 2014.

The school is rapidly improving with a dedicated, committed and hard working staff who are leading the school forward by

Improving the quality of teaching

Raising pupils’ achievement and progress

Leading to positive outcomes for all our pupils.

Everything in school is being rigorously monitored to ensure the very highest standards are not only being met but are exceeded.

Our last Ofsted inspection report and the monitoring visits by the HMI can be found here http://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/101790

We care about the whole child

The Minster Junior School has always believed that children should have equal access to all areas of the curriculum. Everything that happens in school is considered to be part of ‘the curriculum’ and we believe that whether it is learning to share, respecting others or learning to read and write, these things are important to the whole child. The school has regard to the statutory guidance from the Department for Education to carry out its responsibilities and duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. (See our current school policy.)

We are a values school

The whole school life reflects both British and Christian Values. Each month we focus on one value and how we can all improve the way we live out that value both individually and collectively. We hope that these values will encourage the children to live a safe and happy life inside and outside of school. The value of the month is a focus of our daily act of collective worship.

Please visit the Christian Values Website to find out more.

We offer a broad, balanced curriculum and enrichment workshops one afternoon each week. No child leaves the school without the ability to play a musical instrument. Pupils regularly participate in borough events and festivals. The school enjoys close links with Croydon Minster Church and the Vicar and Curate regularly lead collective worship. www.croydonminster.org

If your child is transferring from The Minster Nursery and Infant School or if you are moving from elsewhere, we will do all we can to make the settling in process as easy as possible. Whatever your route to The Minster Junior School, we expect to work in partnership with all parents to provide the best possible education for your child. We hope to have your support in all areas of school life.

Our Pupil Advocates will be delighted to show prospective parents around the school.

Yours sincerely
