Remote Learning

In the current climate, using technology has become even more important than ever before.

Whether it is it to stay in touch with our loved ones or to work in different ways, including supporting working from home, technology plays an ever increasingly important role in our lives; and at school, we are using it to engage children with our home and remote learning offer.

As a school, we are continually working to ensure that we are meeting the Government guidelines and that our digital learning offer is in line with the quality curriculum that we provide in school. Thank you for your continued support and for embracing our new ways of learning from home. We are grateful to our families who have helped our children to make this transition already this term.

We are committed to our pupils’ learning during any period of Closure. Each day during the closure of a class bubble or if a pupil is isolating at home due to Household isolation, we will provide our children with focussed activities

Our partnership over the coming terms remains central to our children’s achievement this year. Work submitted by children, when not in school, will form part of our ongoing assessment of our pupils’ progress. This partnership is vital to ensure our children’s learning continues and we are grateful for the support that we have already received from our families.

Class Isolation

In the event of whole class isolation in term time, we will provide structured, remote learning opportunities for all children to ensure the continued delivery of the Curriculum and a consistent approach to pupils learning during term time.

Daily tasks will be provided for English, Mathematics and the Wider Curriculum Subjects and will be available through Google Classroom. In addition to this we will be providing all pupils with daily ‘live (online) lessons’ delivered by their teachers using Google Meet. We hope these ‘live (online) lessons’ will support our students to continue receiving an excellent education and ensures students are able to regularly engage with their class teacher and community.

We aim to be flexible in our approach and understand the wide range of circumstances that families continue to encounter. If your child is not able to access these live lessons, we strongly recommend to our families that daily opportunities are built into each day to allow pupils to access the tasks set in google classroom. The learning opportunities provided during any period of closure will be part of our current planning and cannot be considered by parents as optional.

We hope these ‘live (online) lessons’ will support our students to continue receiving an exceptional education and ensures students are able to regularly engage with their community.

Remote Learning due to Household Isolation

If your child is self-isolating due to close contact with a case of COVID19 outside school or is isolating due to Household isolation, we will use the GSuite Learning Platform to upload work for your child to complete at home. Due to their Class Teachers’ responsibilities in School, please note that teachers will be unable to be as responsive to Google classroom when teaching in school, but we will mark all work submitted and provide feedback to support your child.

Technology

Your child will need access to a tablet or computer to be able to fully engage in remote learning. We have sourced a small bank of laptops available for use by pupils during a period of class isolation. If you child does not have access to a device, please liaise with the School office to arrange for a laptop to be loaned for a fixed period of time. Devices must only be used by pupils for remote learning activities.

We recognise that many families do not have home printers and will therefore not require the printing of material.
