Busy busy busy!

Sports Day, Talent Show, Eco Fashion Show, Big Belly Bins and Assemblies

It's been another busy week here at Minster Juniors, as we head towards the end of term.

Photos of ALL the below events can be seen in our image gallery. You can see the values award winners here.

Sports Day

On Monday, the weather stayed kind to us, as it has done for pretty much all of our summer events. We had a terrific Sports Day where we were treated to the usual fun events such as tug of war, football dribbling, basketball shooting, bean-bag throwing, egg and sppon racing, sack racing and a whole host of other events that tested every area of agility and skill! Thanks to Mr Davies for organising it, and the parents who came.

Moorhens' Assembly

Tuesday saw our final assembly of the year from Moorhens in Year 3, where we wre treated to our very own version of the ancient Greek Olympics, complete with a boxing match and slow-motion running! The children looked fantastic in their togas and wreath crowns.

Eco Fashion Show

On Wednesday we had the Eco Fashion Show, organised by our own eco warrior, Mrs Tinwell. We were treated to some fascinating designs on the catwalk.

Father Alan

This week also saw our first collective worship from Father Alan, who invited children to pull out objects from his backpack to see what things they might tke on a journey. He then related this to the journey of life and how God provides us with the things that we need, such as food and water to sustain us, and a torch to find our way in dark places.

Talent Show

Friday saw another event that was also arranged by Mrs Tinwell, our yearlyTalent Show. There were so many good acts, the judges found it hard to pick. Miss 'Alesha Dixon' Ramsey, Mrs 'Kelly Rowland' Williams, Miss 'Paula Abdul' Bailey and Mr 'Simon Cowell' Page eventually chose joint winners:

1st place: Lucy in Year 4 with her amazing hula-hooping and Paul in Year 6 for his entertaining funny-man act.

2nd place: Mia and Sharnay for a well-rehearsed dance routine.

3rd place: Emmanuel for some top drumming.

Well done to all the acts for having the bravery to perform in front of the whole school.

Friday Values Assembly... Sports News, Gold Number Stars and Big Belly Bins!

We also had our last values assembly, where we celebrated the value of care. Congratulations to all our winners this year for living out these special values. There were more Gold Number Star winners, and also a celebration of our athletics team for their achievements at Croydon Arena. Earlier this week, we also learned of victory for our up-and-coming girls' netball team.

A big well done also to Chloe, who had her design 'Where Have You BIN All My Life!' picked to be used as a sticker on the Croydon 'Big Belly Bins'! How nice to see her and her brother both winning something in Friday's assembly (Liam won the care values award for his class).
