21st December 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week marks the end of the Autumn Term and on Thursday the children came dressed up as evacuees and had a street party to mark the end of the Second World War. A good time was had by all. Thank you to all the parents/carers who contributed to the food and drink for the party. Some of the outfits were very well thought through and reflected the time period in History that we were studying.

During the Christmas holidays, we would like the children to prepare for their next topic, Frozen Kingdom. This topic is geography based and we will be looking at food chains, the Arctic and Antarctic areas and maps, among other things. In preparation for this, we would like the children to create a penguin costume. They should bring in this costume to school on the first day back, which is the 8th of January 2019. This could be in the form of clothing/ a mask/ or any other innovative idea. The children should also make a non-chronological report on Penguins, which can include their habitat, their food and other interesting facts about penguins.

The children should take the holiday time to make sure that they are up to speed with their times tables knowledge. They must read as often as possible during the holidays. Please discuss the book they are reading with them and make a note in the English Journals.

The next topic in Maths is Measurement. The children could revise conversion between different units of measurements, eg 100 cm = 1 m, 1289gms = 1.289 kg, etc.

Thank you for all your support this term. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, 8th January 2019.
